Platinum’s Microsoft-Exclusive Action RPG Scalebound Is Cancelled
Scalebound looks promising. Last shown in E3 last year, we saw dragons and some cool action combat, a signature of PlatinumGames. We even saw glimpses of online co-op. Last we heard about it was that it has been delayed into 2017.
And suddenly we got news it was cancelled.
Windows Central reported this statement given by Microsoft on this news:
After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including “Halo Wars 2,” “Crackdown 3,” “State of Decay 2,” “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences. While Microsoft is not short of first or second party lineups, it’s a sting to see Scalebound just got cancelled. Microsoft is pretty straightforward when it comes to cancelling their games: Phantom Dust and Fable Legends all got the axe. Better to stop now than release a bad game.
The cancellation is said to just be “business decisions”, and Microsoft is quoted to still have great respect of the Platinum.
But still, it’s bad news for Platinum fans . The bright side is that it’s other big title this year, Nier Automata, looks to be gaining momentum after the demo released. The demo is pretty good and should be the fill if you were looking for an action RPG fill.
