One thing leading to the launch of Tekken 7 on consoles and PC was that Bandai Namco wanted to tell a story. Or rather, to conclude the long-running feud of the Mishimas- mainly between father Heihachi and devil-blooded son Kazuya. After six whole games the rivalry between the two should be over. Hence, the whole story mode is called the Mishima Saga mode.
After Injustice 2 set up the bar high on cinematic story modes for fighting games, Tekken 7 ended up just a bit short. There are interesting ideas with their approach to a story mode, but there are also a lot of rough edges holding it back from being a very satisfying ride.
The Dragon Ball Z fighting game announced a bit too early made by Arc System Works gets a prime time slot on Microsoft’s E3 press conference.
And it looked amazing. Here’s the trailer and marvel and how faithful it looks.

Bandai Namco has always had a more free-form system when it comes to character customisation in their fighting games. While most games only focus on making preset costumes, you never see other fighting games aside from Injustice 2 that allows mixing and matching gear. Tekken 7 continues the trend set by previous Bandai Namco fighting games with the option to make your own custom costume with a large amount of options to choose from.

Arc System Works is developing this and it only means good things. This is the team behind the anime fighters Blazblue and Guilty Gear series, as well as Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the spinoff fighting games of Atlus’ hit RPG series.
With such a pedigree, the [...]

Having fun with Tekken 7 but find it hard to get into online matches? If you’re playing on the PS4, it’s not just you. The Tekken team has known this issue and has now released an update to specifically address it.
While the main fix is the matchmaking, another change to matchmaking is hiding some data of the matched opponent before a match. Before this, you could view the opponent’s character and win number, but this has to be obfuscated to stop players from just rejecting offers from opponents who seem too good on paper- especially pro players.
Here’s the full patch notes (via Eventhubs):
Improved Online Matching Functionality 1. The [...]
