Alongside the Armaggeddon Cup Street Fighter V tournament, Geek Empire Ampang also hosted one of the first Tekken 7 tournament in Malaysia after it’s console and PC launch. Janda Cup, organised by local streamer and Malaysian Fighting Game Community figure Azrul ‘Janda Hunter’ Anwar, was initially planned as a side mini-tournament. However, the reception from the hype of Tekken 7’s recent release to home consoles and PC had pulled a whopping number of 44 playersto join, including female players and children.

But in the world of Tekken esports, there’s one flower that blooms gracefully above others. Meet Tanukana. The Japanese player is one of the more successful players in Tekken from Asia, with most of the powerhouse talents coming from Korea like JDCR, Saint and Knee. She only started playing when Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion was released but since then she has proven to be not only one of the best female Tekken players, but one of the best Tekken players period.

The Malaysian Fighting Games Community (FGC) is gearing up once more for another big event. The Armaggeddon Cup will be the first tournament presented by Armageddon with big prizes, including a trip to Thailand to enter Thaiger Uppercut, one of the ranking events in the Capcom Pro Tour.
The Armaggeddon Cup will also play host to the official launch of the Malaysian FGC’s base that will be now be located at Geek Empire, Ampang.
This is a good chance to prove your SFV skills as well as a good event to meet up with fellow fighting game lovers. Prizes include include mechanical gaming keyboards, speakers, PC housings and medals for Top 8 finishers.
As the saying goes in the fighting games community: “We esports now!”. One of the best Tekken players in Malaysia, Ahmad “Mestre Arenz” Zaharin is now part of Team Flash Vision, home of some of the best Street Fighter V players in Malaysia. This marks the team’s first player outside of SFV.
Arenz is a seasoned veteran of the game, having started out from Tekken 1 was released back in 1994 and continues to play at a competitive level. Street Fighter V’s Capcom Pro Tour has yet to commence as the first stop should begin in March. So why not watch some of our best local players battle it out with their Vietnamese counterpart in a friendly match of Street Fighter V?
The 15 VS 15 man tournament is played online, and will be held this Saturday (18th February). The Malaysian team will be all playing at Geek Empire, which you can drop in and join the crowd.

For EVO 2017, the ninth game to be competed was open to voting. Nine other games, and their community, have to band together and vote by donating to charity. With the votings closed it has now been revealed that Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 will take the main stage once again, possibly for one last hurrah.
The voting system has been a talked about issue in the FGC, as it is deemed unfair due to the unproportionate size of each of the nine communities. Mortal Kombat XL, Marvel and Killer Instinct are pretty big compared to say, Niddhogg, or Windjammers or even the still unreleased ARMS which is an entirely new IP with no dedicated community yet.
