The original X-COM has indeed captured many imaginations over the years. From the highly successful reboot series (XCOM, without the dashes) now helmed by Firaxis to the various indie games of the same genre, it’s time for Julian Gollop, the original creator of X-COM, to bring in something new to the table.
Phoenix Point is the new take of the good old turn-based strategy game fighting against aliens but there’s more than just that. The aliens you are facing, all appeared from the sea, will evolve over time depending on how you approach them. If the aliens keep on dying they’ll evolve into even more horrible, mutated figures until they can counter you. This [...]
Ridiculous, in a good way. Malaysia-based custom hardware manufacturer Illegear has branched out from their usual custom gaming laptop offerings with their first customisable desktop- the Troika. As the name implies, the desktop has a three chamber setup each housing specific compartments. The top part is the home of the GPU with options to add in 2.5″ HDDs, and the other two houses the system components- mini-ITX motherboard, CPU and RAM- with the other houses all additional storage options and the PSU.
The Troika is not just for looks either. The housing material is made with 2mm thick aluminium, and sports liquid cooling. On the specs side, the cheapest configuration [...]
Ever wondered how The Saints initially rise to the top on the streets of Stilwater before the events of Saints Row The 3rd? Well look no further than Saints Row 2, one of the highlight of the series (well, besides IV), now free on GOG for a limited time.
Set years after the original, the player finds him/herself in a Stilwater both familiar and strange and challenged with bringing the Saints back as the rightful kings of Stilwater and bringing vengeance to those who wronged them. Although it is a sequel to the original Saints Row (which is an exclusive title for the Xbox 360), players coming in for the first time won’t need a refresher as it deviates from that [...]
You can’t complain much when a game receiving a new patch that includes making it being free to everyone, especially for a game as old as the original Starcraft.
The 1.18 update today has made the game free for everyone, available for PC and Mac. Alongside that, plenty of fixes are included in the patch.
Check out the patch notes and download links here. Note that you will need to have the Blizzard app (formerly known as the Battlenet client) to get the game running.
With a new remaster coming soon, it’s nice for Blizzard to hand over the classic RTS to everyone. While Starcraft II’s trilogy release may have been decent, Starcraft: Brood War is [...]
To the surprise of absolutely no one, this year’s Star Wars celebration was the venue for the release of EA’s new totally-not-Battlefield-with-a-Star-Wars-skin-for-maximum-market-penetration, Battlefront 2. While many of the people around me express nothing but joy at the trailer, I can’t help but have, how should I say, a bad feeling about this.
For those of you who don’t chase headlines, let’s talk a little about EA in general. EA hasn’t had the best of reputation among concerned gamers, being the kind of friend who sells you a Powerline Ethernet device for RM30 cheaper than most others, only for you to discover that it only comes with one [...]

And so, it happened. After reporting on a “classified file” a week ago, Blizzard chose to kick off their new timed Uprising event with a neat new comic, setting the stage for this first-of-its-kind Overwatch event.
As speculated, Uprising introduces a new PvE mode, where you play as 4 seasoned Overwatch veterans and their plucky new recruit as they journey through King’s [...]
