The PS4 is getting a new firmware update which will include support for external hard disks, but recently we saw another new feature from reported from beta testers that are currently using the 4.50 update.
It seems like the PS4 Pro will have a Boost Mode. Games that are not updated for PS4 Pro support will run on a similar configuration as a normal PS4. What Boost Mode entails is that it will run these games full power, which may or may not result in performance gains.
While it was first just witness reports, various outlets, such as The Verge, have been approached with a proper statement from Sony on this feature, which reads:
“[Boost Mode] lets PS4 Pro [...]
Fallout 4 is about to get official PS4 Pro Support via the game’s newest update, Update 1.9.
According to the official Bethesda website, the update provides enhanced lighting and graphic features for the PS4 Pro, including a Native 1440p resolution, enhanced draw distance for trees, grass, objects and NPCs and enhanced Godray effects (the shadows and sunlight effects of the game).
But that’s not all,Bethesda will release a high-resolution texture pack for the PC version of Fallout 4 as a token of appreciation for the many players still actively playing this game.
However,to use the high-res pack you need an additional 58GB of space on your PC, [...]
Ratchet & Clank 2016, the game based on the (mediocre) movie based on the (great) game, will receive and update to support PS4 Pro anytime soon. Based on the blog post over at Playstation Blog, developers Insomniac Games is making use of the added hardware power to allow higher resolutions (they did not say 4K, because it’s probably not native 4K even though it will look better on 4K TVs) and better graphical quality on normal 1080p TVs. HDR will also come with the update, so regular PS4 players don’t miss out that much.
It’s unfortunate that the added hardware didn’t result in an increase in [...]
This is an interesting turn of events. After announcing mod support won’t be coming to PS4 for Fallout 4, Bethesda announced the The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: Special Edition, alongside Fallout 4, will be getting mods after all.
There’s one big caveat that allows Bethesda to put mods on the PS4: no external assets will be allowed and all mods will have to use the resources available in the Creation Kit. So no dragon Macho Man Randy Savage in Skyrim, or Deathclaw Macho Man Randy Savage for Fallout 4. Unless there’s a crafty way to circumvent these rules.
Mod support [...]
After long rounds of rumours and speculation, the first appearance of a console within the same generation but with better hardware is here. The PS4 Pro is not in the position to be replacing the PS4- the good old console is getting a refresh with a slimmer build- but the idea of having a console that can provide even better visuals that what is available currently can be tempting to some enthusiasts, especially those that have been envying the PC with its unlocked framerate potential and ability to run games up to 4K resolution with the latest set of CPUs and GPUs. In fact, Sony’s Andrew House made this the intent of providing the PS4 Pro, so that [...]
Mass Effect Andromeda is teased ever so often- a short teaser at E3, a hint of when more details coming at Gamescom. And now, we got to see some extended gameplay footage of Bioware’s sci-fi RPG series’ latest entry that will be supporting the PS4 Pro.
Though, calling it “extended” may not be as appropriate. We didn’t learn much about the gameplay, aside from some exploration with two party members and jet-pack fueled jumps, but hey, it looks really nice. We assume it would look better on a 4K television with the PS4 Pro, because by gleaming through this trailer in normal hardware, it looks [...]
