While the rest of the world is waiting for two more Yakuza games to be released in English- Yakuza Kiwami arriving next month and Yakuza 6: Song Of Life next year- the developers of the series has been hard at work on their new game.
The Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, or Yakuza Studio, will unveil their current projects officially in an event on August 26, according to Gematsu. In a recent livestream, head of the studio Toshihiro Nagoshi stated the presentation for multiple titles.
Would it be a new Yakuza game? Yakuza 6, first released in Japan last year, marked the closing chapter of series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. So if it is another Yakuza game, there is room for the series [...]
The remake of the first Yakuza game is coming out in English soon, and Sega has released a new trailer to show off more of Kazuma Kiryu’s first adventure now remade with the tech that powered Yakuza 4, 5 and 0.
Being a remake, Yakuza Kiwami took some liberties with what content it offers. Kiryu now has four different fighting styles, a carry over from Yakuza 0. The brawler style is the default, balance, no-nonsense fighting style. Rush favours quick dodges and light attacks to keep enemies on their toes. Beast style should wreck havoc with its great crowd control swings and the ability to immediately grab weapons, including motorcycles, with an attack move.
If you [...]
The first Yakuza has now been remastered. Yakuza Kiwami first released on the PS3 and PS4 last year, and the English version is set for release later in August. The new trailer shown during E3 showcases how improved the graphics has been over the original PS2 classic that started it all.
Unlike the original English release, Kiwami will make use of only Japanese voices with English subtitles. The original game used dubs with some high quality talent (including Mark Hamill as Majima) but the new formula of having English subs are much better recieved. All the dialog is rerecorded, so it’s not just a graphics remaster.
In addition, the trailer showcases some new [...]
The Yakuza series is on a roll as of late with all of their games finally got localised for English audiences with Yakuza 0 out early this year and the remake of the first Yakuza, Yakuza Kiwami, ready for release this August. That means there’s only one more game that has yet to reach the West (and English speaking countries in Asia)- Yakuza 6.
Good news, that’s being localised too, coming early next year.
Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life is the first game to utilise the brand new Dragon Engine, built to make use of the PS4 hardware in full. The story takes our good natured Yakuza man Kazuma Kiryu back into the seedy streets of Kamurocho and the new city of [...]
The 2D revival of the old Sonic games, Sonic Mania, now has a release date. Sonic Mania is developed by Christian Whitehead (former fan game developer that ended up helping out with PC and mobile ports of Sonic CD), Headcannon and PagodaWest Games. Taking cues of the first three Sonic platformers, the game is a celebration of the era featuring remixed levels from the old titles while adding new ones. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are all playable characters.
To celebrate the release date, there is a new trailer featuring another new song by Hyper Potions, the folks that did the awesome song for the initial reveal, and a masterful animation work led by Tyson Hesse. Check it [...]
In an interview with PC Invasion, Sega Europe’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Publishing, John Clark, has confirmed that over 170,000 copies of the recently released PC port of Bayonetta has been sold.
It may not seem as huge, but this is a port of an eight year old game that was released last month. Clark mentioned that Sega is happy with the current sales numbers, and expect to see more PC ports coming down the horizon. No word on what will be the next game to receive a PC release.
Check out the full interview where Clark shared some tidbits on how the effort goes on making a PC port possible.
